In the world of design and architecture, every project has its own story to tell, and today we want to share a journey through one of our innovative ideas: the creation of a custom-made pendant lighting with RGB LED tubes and DMX programming for the official FC Barcelona shops.

At Actilum, in collaboration with Decorner, we are proud to have been part of this unique challenge.

Represent the institutional colours

FC Barcelona, known for its rich history and tradition, is one of the most emblematic football clubs in the world. Barça’s institutional colours, blue and maroon, are a fundamental part of its identity.

But how do you achieve lighting that authentically and dynamically reflects these colours in an official shop? That was the question we asked ourselves when we started this project.

Coloured light tubes with custom RGB LED strips and DMX programming

Our response to this challenge was to create bespoke RGB LED strip lights and program them via DMX.

RGB LED strip lights allow for a wide range of colours and lighting effects, which gave us the versatility we needed to achieve the desired dynamics in the lighting of the official Barça tents.

However, there was a hurdle to overcome: the team’s signature maroon colour is known to be particularly difficult to achieve with conventional RGB LEDs.

Designing special filters for the colour maroon

To authentically achieve the color grana, we developed special filters that were integrated into the RGB LED strip tubes. These custom filters enabled the creation of a deep and vibrant red that meets FC Barcelona’s standards.

The pride of illuminating with the BLAUGRANA colours

The lighting system with customised RGB LED tubes and DMX programming was installed in more than 10 official FC Barcelona shops. These 1.5 to 2 metre long light tubes hang from the ceiling and provide dynamic lighting that fills the spaces with BLAUGRANA colours. The combination of moving lights and custom filters creates a unique atmosphere that reflects the passion and history of the club.

At Actilum, we are proud to have been part of this exciting design and architectural project for the official FC Barcelona shops.

The Barça official shop project challenged us to overcome technical obstacles to create dynamic lighting that proudly reflects the institutional colours of FC Barcelona.

LED lighting has revolutionised the industry due to its long life and versatility in colour temperatures. Unlike the old fluorescent tubes, LED fluorescent tubes are more energy efficient and require a more efficient power supply. This means not only energy savings, but also the high quality and long-lasting illumination that LEDs offer.

Shape of the Gamut

Using a hue and saturation graph allows you to visualize how colors are distributed in terms of hue and saturation. This graph is crucial for understanding how colors are perceived in different lighting conditions.

How to Interpret the TM30?

The TM30 is visually represented by a pie chart, making it easy to interpret its measurements.

The black circle represents the reference light, typically sunlight.

The red circle represents the light being measured.

The relative position of the red circle to the black circle is critical to interpreting the results
